Seva Project Suriname 2023

UPDATE (11/01/2024):

The Shri Satyam Sai World Foundation concluded the year 2023 with the seva project: Christmas packages for Suriname! It was a great success, thanks in part to all our amazing donors. We would like to thank everyone enormously for their generous contributions. It was a race against time, but in the end, we succeeded. Many people have donated through the website and bank transfer. (Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to personally thank donors who have contributed via bank transfer by email, as we do not have their email addresses.)

Thanks to two incredibly generous anonymous donors, we were able to distribute no less than 1008 packages. These packages were intended for the elderly, the disabled, and people who are really struggling. The beautiful part was that our volunteers personally delivered these packages to people’s homes. And not just that, they went all over Suriname, from elderly homes in Moengo to children’s homes in Nickerie.

A group of volunteers also helped with the packing of the packages and took care of the logistical planning. It was so heartwarming to see how happy everyone was with these packages. Representatives of the various institutions expressed their gratitude on behalf of everyone to our donors and the organization.

There is also a great need for clothing, especially summer clothing for all ages. This was truly an experience to never forget and it shows how much we can achieve together!

Below is a photo report of the project in Suriname.

UPDATE (06/12/2023):

Shri Satyam Sai World Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to all donors for their support of the Seva Project Suriname 2023. The contributions play a crucial role in the success and impact of this project. Thank you for your generosity and dedication to making a difference. The project will continue to be coordinated in Suriname during the month of December. Future updates can be followed on this page.

Sai Ram,

‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’

In the Vedic tradition, the Sanskrit expression ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ is mentioned, which means: The world is one family. This not only refers to people but also encompasses all living beings on Earth. Since its establishment in the year 2003, the Shri Satyam Sai World Foundation has recognized and embraced this universal truth. All the activities we organize are based on this core value.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Shri Satyam Sai World Foundation! For 20 years now, we have been organizing spiritual and humanitarian activities for the well-being of everyone, regardless of religion, race, or belief. With gratitude in our hearts, we look back on 20 beautiful and blessed years during which the foundation, along with all the volunteers, has had the opportunity to perform seva (selfless service) for the world.

We are approaching the holiday season, with Christmas just around the corner. During the holidays, we often think of warmth, good food, and celebrations with family and friends. However, for many people living in poverty, these things are far from guaranteed.

To assist the poor and vulnerable during the holidays, the Shri Satyam Sai World Foundation is launching a humanitarian initiative in Suriname. As you may be aware, the economic situation in the country is not favorable, with widespread poverty and many struggling to afford basic necessities. We will be distributing Christmas packages to nursing homes, orphanages, and to impoverished and needy individuals so that they too can enjoy the festive season.

These Christmas packages, valued at €54 each, will include:

  • Rice
  • Flour
  • Yellow peas
  • Brown beans
  • Sunflower oil
  • Broodbeleg
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Food locally such as onions, garlic, potatoes, bananas, cassava, and vegetables
  • Pain relievers like paracetamol
  • Personal care items such as soap, toothpaste, diapers (for the elderly and disabled)
  • A Christmas gift for children
  • Something sweet

We would appreciate it if you could share this message; together, we can help as many people as possible.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact the Shri Satyam Sai World Foundation.
